Be Ready, Inc began as Be Ready Disaster Preparedness in 1991 when Al Cabacungan and a partner decided to create a one-stop-shop for families and communities preparing to be self-reliant during disasters. At the time, the idea was so new that Entrepreneur Magazine highlighted the venture, and late-night programs like Jay Leno and David Letterman made fun of Californians putting together 72-hour kits and selling supplies for long-term water and food storage. Now over 20 years later, the laughter has ceased, as they have helped customers face earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, Y2K, 9/11, food shortages, contaminated water supplies and a host of other disasters. Be Ready, Inc. is dedicated helping communities become educated and self-reliant in the face of ever-increasing turmoil worldwide. Through seminars, webinars, websites and a retail storefront, they make disaster preparedness accessible to anyone searching for supplies.

Current events have forced us to take a good look at our perception of disaster preparedness.  No longer do we have the comfort of believing that in case of an emergency we will be quickly and automatically taken care of by local or government agencies. Images of suffering, evacuation shelters and endurance flowing from our TV screens and internet cause us to wonder how different the scenario could look if the many victims had been prepared to be self-reliant for at least thirty days.

For 26 years Be Ready INC has been responsible for supplying the military with USA made, emergency blankets.  Be Ready INC was also responsible for supplying Japan with emergency blankets during the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.  In most recent years Be Ready INC has been supporting  government agencies, schools, hospitals, fire departments, military, emergency managers and retailers with 100% bacteria free water which has changed the whole landscape in the preparedness industry.  Now the mantle of responsibility has been handed down to Al and Erica’s son’s Adam and Josh Cabacungan to usher in the next 20 plus years of service, education and “Aloha” for the community.  We have two locations; Oceanside CA and Waipahu HI.
